To quote Trumpies when they prefer not to respond - LOL.
That's the soapbox Trumpie copout when they have no answer but want to sound haughty. High and mighty.
Like this is the only issue that takes Trump into the racially tinged culture wars. It's the one you grabbed hold of, but the only one race baiting here is you. The real point is that you completely misquote what some of these lefties say in attacking Trump as a whole new level of bad, compared with past brands of conservatism. You choose to see what you want - that somehow they are claiming they liked Reagan or Bush or Romney. They didn't and they make no such claim - that's just you flailing about trying to discredit messengers because its all you have - defending Trump requires defying logic.
The point being made wasn't that these Trump-haters liked these other repubs from recent history. It is that these other repubs did not sow division by running to the comfort of culture wars whenever they were having a bad week. That's what Trump does, that's what makes him so divisive, and as bad as they thought these other repubs were, they shared common values with them - those other repubs would not have driven wedges into society the way Trump does.
The only one who really plays the race card is Trump - ironically, so his devotees can scream and rant that everyone is playing the race card, just because my Orange hero talked about all the nice people marching under nazi flags! Just because he happened to call only African and Caribbean countries shitholes - he was only referring to economics, not race, and anyway, the problem is with that tattletale Durbin!
Your choice if you see no racial undertones in that. I'm not arguing with that. I'm arguing with your initial response to the critique about conservatism, wherein you simply attacked the people making the argument by misstating their argument about the conservatism of the past, as they see it.
